I photograph people the way they’d like to be remembered, and things the way they actually look.

03AStory

Twelve years, one camera

I started on my father’s Yashica, shooting family weekends in Lagos and learning that the best frame is rarely the posed one. Twelve years later I still work the same way: one camera, mostly window light, and a lot of waiting for people to forget I’m there.

The studio is on Victoria Island, and most months I travel across West Africa for weddings, editorial commissions and personal series like Elmina. Clients have included Vogue Africa, Kiln & Co., Irin Hotels and Lagos Fashion Week.

“She was invisible until the pictures came back.”

How a shoot works

  • 01 One camera, mostly window light

Fewer tools means more attention on you. I work with daylight wherever I can, and bring a small kit when I can’t.

  • 02 Waiting is the job

The picture usually arrives after people forget I’m there. I leave room in every session for the quiet minutes.

  • 03 Marked up by hand

Every roll goes onto a contact sheet. We circle the frames that feel like you, and only those are retouched.

03DHow to book

Four steps to a date

  1. 01

    Send an enquiry

Use the enquiry form on the home page: the kind of shoot, a date or a rough month, and a line or two about it.

  2. 02

Hear back within two working days

Iris replies herself, usually with a couple of questions and a written quote.

  3. 03

    Confirm the date

Once the quote and terms are agreed in writing, your date is held and you receive a short planning guide.

  4. 04

    Shoot, select, deliver

After the shoot you circle your favourites in a private client gallery, and the retouched frames follow within the time quoted.
