Building a Routine

· Happy Tails Team

Pets thrive on predictability. A consistent schedule for meals, walks, play, and sleep reduces anxiety-driven behaviours like chewing or scratching. Dogs especially benefit from knowing when to expect exercise — it takes the edge off their energy in a healthy way.

For cats, interactive play before feeding mimics their hunt–eat–groom–sleep cycle and promotes contentment.

A routine also helps you spot problems early: if your pet suddenly skips a meal or loses interest in play, you'll notice because it stands out against the normal pattern. Small daily rituals — a morning walk, an evening play session, a quiet cuddle before bed — are how deep bonds are made.
