Before your new companion arrives, walk through your home at pet-level. Secure loose cables, tuck away toxic plants, and block access to hazardous areas.

Set up a dedicated sleep spot with a soft bed and familiar scent. A crate or safe room helps nervous animals decompress in the first days.

Stock up on essentials before pickup day: food and water bowls, a collar with ID tag, a leash, litter tray or waste bags, and a few toys. Having everything ready means less stress for you and a smoother landing for your new pet.
