Vaccinations & Preventive Care
· Happy Tails Team
Preventive care is the foundation of a long, healthy life for your pet. Puppies and kittens need a series of vaccines starting from 6–8 weeks of age, with boosters throughout their first year.
Core vaccines for dogs include distemper, parvovirus, and rabies. For cats: herpesvirus, calicivirus, and panleukopenia. After the initial series, most vaccines shift to annual or tri-annual boosters — your vet will advise.
Beyond vaccines, flea, tick, and heartworm prevention should begin immediately and continue year-round depending on your region. Regular check-ups every 6–12 months allow your vet to catch issues early, when they're easiest to treat.
