Frequently asked questions

Straight answers, so you don’t have to call to find out.

How much does tutoring cost in Providence?

One-on-one sessions are $85 for 60 minutes, or $78 per session with a ten-session package that never expires. Small groups of two or three students from the same class are $65 each. The first session is free, and in-home travel within 15 miles is included.

Are your tutors background-checked?

Yes. Every tutor passes a criminal background check before their first session, holds a degree in the subject they teach, and has at least four years of teaching or tutoring experience.

Do you tutor at home?

Yes. We come to your home anywhere within 15 miles of Providence at no extra charge, including the East Side, Cranston, Pawtucket, East Providence, Barrington and Warwick. You can also meet online or at our private study room in a coworking building at 218 Wickenden Street.

What happens in the first session?

Your tutor spends the first 20 minutes finding out what your child already knows, then teaches. That evening you get a short written note on what was covered, what went well, and what they'd focus on next. The first session is free.

Do you offer online tutoring?

Yes. Online sessions use a shared digital whiteboard, which works especially well for math and science. They're the same length and price as in-person sessions, and you still get written notes afterward.

How soon will we see progress?

For a specific gap, like one algebra unit or one type of essay, usually within three or four sessions. For confidence that has slipped over a year, expect a semester. We'll check in with you after the fourth session on how it's going.

Do you work with students who have an IEP or 504 plan?

Yes. Share the plan and your tutor will read it before the first session. Hannah Wexler is Orton-Gillingham certified for dyslexia, and Danny Ferreira spent eight years in Providence public schools working with special education teams.
