THE FERRINI FAMILY, ON ONE HILLSIDE
Serra Hills is a family estate in the Sienese hills, founded by Giulia and Paolo Ferrini in 1987 and now run with their son Marco. Everything we sell is grown, made and bottled here.

How it began
Giulia and Paolo Ferrini bought a neglected hillside in 1987 and replanted it by hand over three years. The first vintage, in 1991, was 800 bottles shared with friends and neighbours.
In 1992 the stone cellars were carved into the rock: 13 °C all year, no machines. Their son Marco returned from Burgundy in 2004 and has made the wines ever since, blending by taste and never by formula.
Three terroirs on one hillside: the high limestone ridge for the whites, clay-rich lower slopes for the reds, and a narrow east-facing band.
Thirty-nine vintages, one hillside.

Back from Burgundy
Marco returns with a notebook of questions and one rule: never hurry.
The orchard
Five fruit wines from estate and neighbouring orchards join the cellar.

The winemaker
“The vineyard sets the terms. My job is to listen well enough not to ruin it.”
Marco trained in Burgundy under two of the region's most respected négociants before coming home in 2004.
He samples every barrel weekly and blends by taste, never by formula. The vineyard sets the conditions; Marco listens.
